INTRODUCTION

Spending time with my husband taking photographs along part of The Great Ocean Road around townships of Anglesea, Aireys Inlet and Lorne – Victoria, Australia was such a pleasure. I enjoyed taking photographs of the seascape while my husband enjoyed using his new binoculars to search out the local wildlife. On this particular winter’s day the weather was perfect! As we travelled along this scenic iconic road, we discovered stunning beaches and ocean views. The fresh, softly blowing sea air, filled our ageing lungs; the whole experience rejuvenated our bodies and souls…

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this seascape photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lense. For some of the shots, I used the camera hand-held, and for others, I used the camera mounted on a tripod with a remote timer. Each photography adventure helps me learn more about my camera and lense; and hopefully helps me becoming a better photographer. I also used my Samsung Galaxy S6 mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

MY FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHS

Here below are three of my favourite photographs that I took on this particular photography adventure. Each drawing the eye into the middle scene with interesting landmarks to give the image overall character and interest.

The above photograph was taken at Point Addis looking towards Bells Beach which is halfway between Torquay and Anglesea – Victoria, Australia. I managed to capture the shimmer of the morning sun across the ocean while still managing to keep all the foreground vegetation features.

The above photograph was taken at Aireys Inlet. The winding gravel path through green shrubbery lead up to Split Point Lighthouse – Victoria, Australia. I love the cloud formation and how the lighthouse peers above the shrubbery. Having a person strolling into the depth of the photograph offers perspective.

The above photograph was taken at Lorne near the mouth of the Erskine River. Peering through Pine trees I was able to capture a mirror image of the Golden Monterey Cypress trees.

BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS

A couple of the photographs taken on the day were better off as black and white images. The first being a dog that scampered across the water at Aireys Inlet. The other a view from a sand dune looking towards Point Grey at Lorne, Victoria – Australia.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom 6. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing them I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure. CONCLUSION

Being out and about experiencing the natural wonders of the world really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way I can improve my sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative! It definitely works for me and once more we finished up our day in high spirits.   Thank you for taking the time out to look at this blog. The Great Ocean Road has some beautiful and breathtaking views. So miss being able to travel outside of Melbourne but soon it looks like that will change after so many months of ‘Lockdown’. When he was a young man surfing with his friends at Bells Beach during long hot summer days.
