INTRODUCTION

This photography adventure involved an afternoon drive to Hesket, Victoria – Australia ‘Sanatorium Lake‘.  Hubby and I had the pleasure of having our daughter and her baby join us which we found most enjoyable.  Sanatorium Lake is a man-made lake, famous for its intense reflections, and during the 19th century, the cool climate of the Macedon region was thought to provided a perfect environment for patients suffering tuberculosis. A very cool afternoon it was where fine mist filtered through the lush green vegetation creating a mystical atmosphere within the surrounding forest.  Being a week day, the location was isolated which added an extra feeling of being immersed into a dreamy world where I was able to truly concentrate all my creative efforts into taking photographs of this magical place.

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this landscape photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens. For all these photographs I used the camera mounted on a tripod with a remote timer.  I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.  I developed a small selection of photographs During the process of developing them I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

CONCLUSION

Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world really does rejuvenate the body and soul.  Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!

Happy photography all!

  1. I see what you mean, it’s otherworldly and your photos captured that quality. I feel a sense of sadness, but it may be because of the history of the site that you mentioned. But I think it’s your photos, really- they have a feeling as if time has stopped. Beautiful.
