INTRODUCTION

It’s now winter time here in this part of the world and venturing out for photography adventures early in the morning can be challenging! The goal was to photograph landscape scenes around Lake Eildon National Park, Victoria – Australia amongst Victoria’s Central Highlands.  While travelling along Fraser Park Road towards Devil Cove Campground, we stopped to take a look at a location near the mouth of Devils River.  Weather can mean well-planned photography adventures change at a moments notice, but during this particular photography adventure, the weather conditions provided some amazing photography opportunities – it was just magical.  What a surprise for us!  The river was dry and Lake Eildon’s water levels were so low that at this location, no water could be found, just a beautiful mystical landscape that had once been covered in water.  As the sun rose, and the mist lifted and moved across the landscape, the lighting changed dramatically.  Moment to moment, new and beautiful views were revealed thus providing some stunning photographic scenes. During our time at this location, not another soul could be seen or heard.  We felt most privileged to have experienced such a moment with nature…

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Recently I had purchased a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do portraits or landscape photographs more easily which worked a treat.  I also purchased a BH-40 Ballhead for my tripod and once more, it made taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.  I developed a small selection of photographs During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

CONCLUSION

Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul.  Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!

Happy photography all – © Karen Robinson – June 2019
