“Photography: Painting and Drawing with Light”
INTRODUCTION
The Lake Eildon Region, Victoria – Australia is just spectacular at this time of the year. The water levels are very low and meant, we were able to walk out onto this part of Lake Eildon at Piries – Howqua Inlet that otherwise in goods times, is usually covered in water. We arrived earlier enough to view the sunrise over the mountains. I was able to capture photographs of the sun hitting large stretches of frosted moss-covered plains. A black water river flowing through the region reflected beautifully everything in its view. We enjoyed the tranquillity and beauty of this mystical region and felt very privileged to be there. During our time at this location, the only other person we sighted, was a man and his dog taking an early morning walk. Another amazing photography adventure!
PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED
During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Recently I had purchased a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do portraits or landscape photographs more easily which worked a treat. I also purchased a BH-40 Ballhead for my tripod and once more, it made taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS
On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure. Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!
CONCLUSION
Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!
