“Photography: Painting and Drawing with Light”
INTRODUCTION
For this post, I am just showing the one photograph I took which is not like me but I felt it so beautiful that not sharing it would have been disappointing. It’s a view from the bridge crossing over the Goulburn River, Thornton, Victoria – Australia. We decided to get up early for a photography adventure that being 4am which meant we were able to catch the sunrise at this location. Within minutes, the sunrise changed colour with wonderful water reflections of the sky above on the river’s surface. The riverbanks curled along and up into the distance giving the effect of lace edging as the sunlight bathed the surrounding landscape in warm golden yellow and orange. Just wonderful being able to witness the beginning of a new day…
PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED
During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Recently I had purchased a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do portraits or landscape photographs more easily which worked a treat. I also purchased a BH-40 Ballhead for my tripod and once more, it made taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS
On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure. Please find both above only, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!
CONCLUSION
Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!

It is indeed a wonderful photograph of a very beautiful scene. It must have felt so good to be up that early and able to capture the dawn.

Hi Jessica – it is worth getting up early to be at locations like these when the lighting is so lovely. Changes quickly so have to move fast to capture – that can be hard, especially for an old girl like me!…warm regards Karen
