INTRODUCTION

This photography adventure was not going to be about taking photographs, so I thought beforehand, it was going to be about visiting and exploring the Ballarat International Foto Biennale.  A short drive to Ballarat, Victoria – Australia with hubby lead to walking from one location to another viewing many artists photography works.  During this outing, it required us to walk up many flights of stairs, all historical and interesting.  I was inspired to take a set of photographs of them as the lighting within these stairwells was just so beautiful. In taking these photographs I found the light and shade helping to create forms of abstraction. Once again – it was with my iPhone but so enjoyable and easy – an on the go creative endeavour…

  1. I like stairs and staircases and stairwells too, and I agree with you about the geometry of these features. I also like seeing the buildings for themselves. I’ve watched a couple of tv series filmed in this area so that’s another layer of interest for me!

    • Hi Claudia…sorry for my late reply and so appreciate your viewing and commenting on these set of photographs. The lighting around stairwells is interesting with wonderful contrast and architectural design features. I just couldn’t resist taking photographs even though I didn’t have my usual camera – just on the iPhone – but such fun and easy with said…warm regards Karen
