INTRODUCTION
We decided on this photography adventure that we would keep it near to home. This decision was based on recent and current bushfire alerts within our state of Victoria. So with a 15-minute drive to our local Woodland Historic Park, Victoria – Australia I was able to find some satisfying nature compositions! Large old gum trees majestically sat proudly amongst Australian native bush like grand abstract sculptures. While the time of day, being near midday should have been too bright normally, the dappled lighting through the limbs and leaves of these gum trees offered some beautiful natural soft lighting. There was little to no breeze which was also good, meant I didn’t have to worry too much about fast shutter speeds to freeze movement.
I came away surprised to find such beautiful subjects to photograph. It had us once more reflecting on how important it is to preserve our native environment. It also had us feeling sorrowful for all the native bush that had recently been destroyed by bush fires across the State of Victoria and other States within Australia. People, animals, homes, vast swaths of native vegetation – all devastating loses. Hence how important it is to understand we share this Blue Planet with all living matter and we have a responsibility to preserve and greatly value its resources and inhabitants…
NB: Here is a link to a Poem I wrote back in 2016 and very much relates to how I am feeling right now – during our Country’s recovery from the devastating bush fires. There is an air of pensiveness as emergency services personnel wait to see how the rest of our summer fire season will pan out…
PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED
During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Recently I had purchased a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do portraits or landscape photographs more easily which worked a treat. I also purchased a BH-40 Ballhead for my tripod and once more, it made taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS
On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure. Please find here above, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!
