“Photography:  Painting and Drawing with Light”

 

 

 

INTRODUCTION

Sometimes you can just be so lucky to be at the right place at the right time.  And this was the case for this particular photography adventure!  Hubby and I left home at 4 am to arrive on location at Black Beach/Bore Beach in San Remo, Victoria – Australia.  It was dark and to our surprise, a lone fisherman had pulled up in behind us at the Black Beach Carpark/Lookout.  We all walked down to the beach in the dark together.  The fisherman walked up ahead to some rocks that lead out near the surf where he set up fishing during the beautiful morning sunrise.  I set up my tripod and camera so as to be able to capture the sunrise with this lone fisherman within the frame, thus allowing for the viewer of the taken photograph appreciate the vastness of the beach/surf scene (re photograph above).  On our way back to the car which involved a steep and long climb upstairs (well for us oldies it was steep), I turned around and looked back at the beach scene and took the photograph below which was in the opposite direction to the rising sun. On our way to another location, I spotted another photo opportunity at Newhaven, looking across the Western Port Bay where boats floated on gentle waters.  The sky at this point was overcast which turned the whole scene a silver grey with the sun hanging like a moon in the upper sky.  Then it was onto our last stop for the day being Pyramid Rock Lookout at Ventnor before heading back home. Here I found Pyramid Rock sitting amongst pretty blue waters.  By then the sky had cleared up and it too showcased a blue backdrop for my image.  Also found a lone tree precariously perched on the side of a cliff and managed to take a photograph of it surrounded by colourful vegetation and with the pretty blue sea and sky backdrop, it made for an interesting photograph I felt.  What a wonderful photography adventure here within this region, beautiful and scenic, and one hubby and I will return to sometime hopefully in the near future…

 

 

 

 

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Also used a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do ‘portraits or landscape’ photographs more easily.  I also use a BH-40 Ballhead with my tripod which makes taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. My Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone is used for quick spontaneous photographs and to also gain GPS location readings on location.

 

 

 

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic.  I developed a small selection of photographs.  During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find here above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

 

 

 

 

CONCLUSION

Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!
