INTRODUCTION
During my photography adventures over the years with my hubby throughout the State of Victoria – Australia, I have photographed many images which strongly feature trees. Trees whether in gardens, lining country or suburban streets, whether lining parcels of land of farmers, or trees that are found in forests and reserves – all serve an important part of our natural world. They are the homes of many animals, birds and insects, they deserve our respect and need our help to be protected.
As a landscape photographer, trees are an important focal point in any photograph. Some help to frame the image and others offer different colour and shape contrast. They can be stark and barren, lush and green with plentiful leafing; they can arrear like statues or sculptures upon the landscape or within a garden scene. They can be towering in height like giant monsters or like delicate ballerina’s dancing in the wind, and at times appear like ghostly figures in mist and fog. Some show signs of suffering from fire, floods, high winds and human degradation. A tree isolated can appear lonely and sad, but when they stand together they then appear like an impenetrable army that can be overwhelming, and leave us feeling small and insignificant! All these attributes of trees help to tell a visual story about the location in which they feature. They are life-sustaining, survivors, they are magnificent…
Please find here below a small selection of trees I have photographed over the years…

Your photos are beautiful as always and I particularly like the ones that feature one tree, like a portrait. And your introduction was poetic.

Hi Claudia, thank you… I became quite emotional putting together this photographic selection of trees. With the current ‘lockdown’ in place thus not being able to get out-and-about has left me longing for new photographic adventures. In saying this, please understand, I know we are fortunate when compared to others in the world. Trees are somewhat a symbol I feel for being able to come back after adversity…Karen

Yes, I think the same thing about trees. We are lucky enough to be able to get outside and we are in the midst of a beautiful spring with trees blooming and leafing our. It encourages me to see them.
