“Photography: Painting and Drawing with Light”
INTRODUCTION
It’s summertime now in Melbourne – Australia and time to capture some beautiful sunrise shots at Brighton Beach. We arrived at the beach early morning to find a couple of people undertaking their daily exercise routine and a number of keen photographers seeking to capture a beach sunrise.
Above Photography: After taking the photograph below, I turned around and sighted this above beach view. It was just beautiful and the warm early morning sunrise poured orange into the clouds above and across the wide-open sandy beach. Way in the distance the Melbourne City skyline was in sight and looking out over Port Phillip Bay. Not a person in sight except for the occasional seagull.
Below Photograph: While thinking about my approach for the morning I sighted this scene below. As the ‘blue hour’ started to drift into the sunrise, the street lights lit up the sandy beach and one of the Brighton Beach Bathing Boxes. The view took in clouds hanging lowly in the sky with the Port Phillip Bay shoreline gently meeting the sandy beach. The lighting was gorgeous and something different for a beach photograph for me!
CONCLUSION
Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative. Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits is a real privilege for sure. It really does rejuvenate the body and soul.

Hi Lisa, thank you for having a look and also commenting. I too really like the bottom image. Sometimes as a photographer we can be lucky and have just the right light and location. What attracted me to the compostion was the street lamp lighting up the pavement area – a real plus. This image also printed up very well. Thank you once more…warm regards Karen

That is a great observation (that I did not make). I continue to learn from other photographers. I don’t think I will ever stop learning!
