“Photography: Painting and Drawing with Light”
INTRODUCTION
A desire of mine for this photography adventure was to revisit Nagambie, Victoria – Australia. It’s a shortish trip from our home, just over an hour or so! I wanted to see Tahbilk Wetlands and its Tabik Lagoon during the summertime. The last time we were here was during a winter season, on an overcast day and it looked much softer from a photographer’s point of view. The summer sun creates harsher light which can be tricky photography-wise. Some lagoon spots where water levels had dropped revealed the underlying mud beds the water lilies rested upon. The riverbank gum trees looked very healthy when compared to past summertimes due to good rainfalls last winter. A very beautiful place to visit. We had arrived on location at approximately 7am, and at that time of the day, there wasn’t a soul to been seen, just wonderful bird wildlife, fresh air, and beautiful scenery.
Above Photograph: The above landscape photograph features my dear hubby. Saw him taking a moment while resting on a riverbank log, gazing out into the lagoon scene. I quickly took this shot with my mobile phone!
Below Photograph: The below landscape photograph was the best I took on the day and a true representation of what can be seen around the lagoon region, just off the walking trail.
Below Photographs: The bird photos below were taken on our way back home, but still, within this region. I spotted a juvenile Brown Goshawk, fluttering amongst the bush. Managed to capture these two images. While they are not as sharp or as close as I would have liked, it was still great to have the opportunity to capture an image.
CONCLUSION
Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative. Being out-and-about experiencing the wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits is a real privilege for sure. It really does rejuvenate the body and soul.
