Cheshunt South, Victoria – Australia ‘Lake William Hovell’ Photographed by Karen Robinson Jan 2018 www.idoartkarenrobinson.com. NB All images are protected by copyright laws. Comments: We arrived here at the picturesque William Hovell Lake during the mid-afternoon on a weekday. There was no-one to be seen on this hot summer’s day! The Lake itself is located at the edge of the Alpine National Forest. It is a rock and earth-fill embankment dam with a flip bucket chute spillway across the King River which flows in and out of the dam itself. It supplies water for irrigated crops, vineyards and grazing properties along the King River. Fortunate for us, we had come at a time of the year where the dam was relatively full and at its best. A truly beautiful location that well showcases the lake nettled in amongst mountain bushland which forms part of the Great Dividing Range.
