Creating a portfolio of my abstract paintings and abstract digital art paintings has been a most rewarding experience.  Over the years, I have been able to see how using art for therapy has taken me on a journey towards a better place – a better sense of emotional well-being.  When I was putting together this web/blog it gave me the opportunity to re-examine my art and their accompanying painting stories.  I came to realize my journey has been long and difficult but I have reached an impasse in my life.  I can now use the art for therapy for joyful expression as well as a form of expressing my most inner personal thoughts.

Having built up a portfolio over the years has meant I have a true and correct observation of my journey through my art.  It has become a great tool to use to show, the sum of work achieved.  It serves me as an inspiration to continue on with my art for therapy journey.

NB:  Warning – Some painting stories are sensitive and discuss grief/death and the loss of a loved one. To view my art portfolio, please click on the drop-down tab above which will then list my art portfolio in years, then click on the year tab itself – thank you.

FOOTNOTE:

The process of painting, painting story writing and digital photo painting has offered me a way of expressing thoughts and emotions which can be difficult to say out loud.  I also came to understand that art can be a very powerful way of communicating with others.  Therapy via art – gave me a voice…

My art therapy journey has been an important part of recent years and still will be an important part in years to come.  I am hoping that sharing my art therapy journey, will inspire others, to take up art therapy to find their voice – in order to be able to move forward in the most difficult of times.  Art Therapy has brought me now to a much better place where I find myself being able to seek joy each day.  As an ongoing process, I will be blogging about my art therapy journey “moving forward” and expand on how others have used/are using art therapy to assist physical and emotional well-being.  I hope you will join me!

  2. Painting and writing are deeply personal, and unique to the individual who produces the work. Having the ability to confront the hard issues through your art (and words) is a blessing; it takes courage to put it “out there,” because it’s part of your soul. By being willing to share your vulnerability you may help someone who is struggling to find their way, unable to vocalize the emotions you share. Art and writing can–and do–shine a light into the darkness.
