INTRODUCTION

Another short photography adventure visiting the outskirts of Queen Victoria Market on Victoria Street, West Melbourne, Victoria – Australia.  And again concentrating on Street/Documentary Photography.  Surprisingly there were not many people out-and-about and must be due to COVID-19 pandemic taking its effect on the economy.  At the time of this photo taking we were free to be out-and-about but within the week, Melbourne, Victoria has gone into a 5-day lockdown once again.  We are still most fortunate here in Australia, as the virus has been well controlled thankfully.

While on-site at this location, I decided to try and capture images of people as best as possible.  On my return home, most of the people shots I decided to develop as black and white images in order to help focus on the subjects better eg the people.  I also felt the black and white shots looked better than in colour. One other image of the City Skyscrapers, Queen Victoria Market shops and a Tram running through the image worked well in colour.  The extremes of colour variations, shapes/designs through the image offered an abstract feel to the image as a whole.

We enjoyed our time on location and being not too far from home, made for an easy photography adventure while offering me an opportunity to practice this particular genre of photography.

Above Photography:  The above street/documentary photography image taken of a local man and woman off to do some shopping at Queen Victoria Market.

Above Photography:  The above street/documentary photography image of a man in a long winter style coat with hood – an odd combination for this time of the year, it’s summer!

Above Photography:  The above street/documentary photography image was taken just as the Tram came into view.  Great colour and shape contrast made for an interesting photograph and printed up well.

CONCLUSION

Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative. Being out-and-about experiencing the wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits is a real privilege for sure. It really does rejuvenate the body and soul.

INTRODUCTION

Another wonderful photography adventure opportunity to set about photographing a glorious sunrise at Williamstown, Victoria – Australia.  It’s New Year’s Day 2021 and as we wondered along the Bay Trail Walk, looking across Port Phillip Bay towards anchored yachts and boats, and the Melbourne City Skyline – couldn’t help feeling good!  And at this time in the morning, only keen walkers and photographers could be seen, so peaceful!

Above Photography:  The above seascape photograph was taken during the blue hour and at high tide which meant I was able to capture beautiful sunrise reflections in at the shoreline.  The sky rapidly changed in colouration as the sunrise developed.  A truly magical early morning experience, the temperature was mild and with little to no wind it made for a pleasant seaside environment indeed.

Below Photograph:  The seascape photograph below was taken just upon the sun rising over the landscape to the right of the photograph.  Now the warm tones emerged across the lower clouds, and across the still Port Phillip Bay waters.  Once more, beautiful reflections in the foreground help create this magnificent shoreline image.

INTRODUCTION

It’s summertime now in Melbourne – Australia and time to capture some beautiful sunrise shots at Brighton Beach. We arrived at the beach early morning to find a couple of people undertaking their daily exercise routine and a number of keen photographers seeking to capture a beach sunrise.

Above Photography:  After taking the photograph below, I turned around and sighted this above beach view.  It was just beautiful and the warm early morning sunrise poured orange into the clouds above and across the wide-open sandy beach.  Way in the distance the Melbourne City skyline was in sight and looking out over Port Phillip Bay.  Not a person in sight except for the occasional seagull.

Below Photograph:  While thinking about my approach for the morning I sighted this scene below.  As the ‘blue hour’ started to drift into the sunrise, the street lights lit up the sandy beach and one of the Brighton Beach Bathing Boxes.  The view took in clouds hanging lowly in the sky with the Port Phillip Bay shoreline gently meeting the sandy beach. The lighting was gorgeous and something different for a beach photograph for me!
