Whitlands, Victoria – Australia
INTRODUCTION
At this time of the year the weather in Victoria, Australia gets hot! And on this photography adventure day – the temperature reached 35 degrees. But this did not deter us, because if we waited until the weather was just perfect, we would probably not get out-and-about as much as we do. After some research and planning, we decided to travel towards Gooram. On the way we stopped where I took some photographs of ‘cattle grazing pastures’ running alongside of Killeens Hill Road. I was hoping to catch a photograph of cattle quietly grazing as they slowly moved across the pastures, but unfortunately by the time I got out of the car and got the photographic equipment ready to go, they had all wandered off over the hill out of sight. Oh dear, maybe next time. We then drove further along towards Gooram and discovered by chance (no plan here) Seven Creeks Wildlife Reserve. It was here we walked alongside of the creek where we spotted hundreds of Common Brown Butterflies fluttering around low-lying grass masses. Then after reaching the Gooram Falls we decided to take a break and have some lunch. I took some photographs while hubby looked into the rock pools for fish which unfortunately he couldn’t catch as there was “no fishing allowed”. After our little break and time enjoying the natural wonders of this region, we travelled to Whitlands Powers Lookout. What a spectacular view we had the privilege to sight. While it was quite a climb up-and-down steep steel stairs, it was well worth the effort. Stunning views over the King River Valley, surrounded by Mountains that stretched for kilometres in each direction! Walking back from the lookout to the car, I spotted and photographed yellow Senecio Amygdalifolius and indigo Laurentia Star native wildflowers which were nestled in amongst the rugged untouched Australian bush. The day was coming to an end. On our way home, we stopped at a spot we had visited during winter-time earlier this year – Murchison Gap Outlook, Strath Creek. This outlook offers views across a region known as ‘The Valley of a Thousand Hills‘ and as expected, it had taken on its summer look; grass areas turning golden-yellow that where deep green during winter. Tired but feeling good about our day, we headed back home – arriving exhausted…

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED
During this landscape photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens. For all these photographs I used the camera mounted on a tripod with a remote timer. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

CURIOUS PHOTO OF THE DAY!
This curious photograph below features a Huntsman Spider found lurking on the topside of the public toilet at Gooram Falls. My hubby found him there as he was about to use the facilities! A bit of a surprise as they are not small, but when left alone harmless.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS
On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom 6. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing them I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure. Please find both above and below the best of what I took during this photography adventure!
