“Photography:  Painting and Drawing with Light”

This photography adventure involved travelling to the coastal area of Cape Woolamai and Summerlands, Victoria – Australia, around the Phillip Island Nature Parks region.  Up at 3.30am, left home by 4am to arrive onsite at Southpoint Lookout to take in the great ocean and cliff views at sunrise.  Fresh sea breezes blow in on our faces and had us rugged up to ward off the cold, despite the fact it is summertime here in Victoria.  I was able to also photograph the iconic Nobbles Round Island and stunning ocean shoreline while the tide was out at Cats Bay.  Then onto our last stop before heading back home – the magnificent surf beach at Woolamai Park.  Here the morning light lit up the sandy beach that stretched for miles around the coastline.  Luckily we came when the tide was out far enough to show off rockpools and surf crashing at its edge.  This helped to add additional interest to the overall photograph making it a beautiful Australian summertime beach scene.  We headed back home late morning feeling good about our photography adventure, just love being out-and-about enjoying what our Blue Planet has to offer and knowing it is such a treasure…

During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Recently I had purchased a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do portraits or landscape photographs more easily which worked a treat.  I also purchased a BH-40 Ballhead for my tripod and once more, it made taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic.  I developed a small selection of photographs During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find here above, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!
