“Painting and Drawing with Light”

INTRODUCTION

We decided to go back to re-photographing Williamstown, Victoria – an Australian city seaside location frequented by local residents and tourists alike.  Most of the images are taken around Ferguson Street Pier area looking across Port Phillip Bay. It was a beautiful sunny winter morning, and the light was kind for photography, and before the crowds arrived on location.

This was going to be my first tryout with a new lens Tamron 35-150 F2-2.8 DiIII VXD for Sony FE Mount and paired up with my recently new Sony Camera Body A7RIV +A.  While the images were just about trying out this new combo – I was thrilled with the quality of the images and feel it’s been a great choice of systems for the type of photography I like to do.

The uploading of images onto social media can be a real challenge to showcase their quality.  Hopefully, these images will give some impression of how good the image quality is without viewing them first-hand via the computer and/or as a printed image. The above photograph and the following three images have been taken during this visit in June 2022, but I decided to include other images taken during previous years to help give a fuller story of this historic seaside location.

CONCLUSION

Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of well-being and at the same time – be creative. Being out and about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits is a real privilege for sure. It really does rejuvenate the body and soul.

INTRODUCTION

On our way back home from Warrnambool to Melbourne – Australia after spending a number of photography adventure days photographing around the region, we stopped to take some photographs at Mepunga – Bay of Islands Coastal Park.  Here we had the opportunity to view beautiful coastal cliffs and rock formations.  Lush green coastal vegetation, yellow and orange sands, deep blue sea and blue skies with storm clouds drifting across created an ideal location for a keen photographer such as me.  Although my tiredness from our 3 days of travel did dampen my enthusiasm on this occasion.  Will need to return hopefully one day to actually take the walk along the beach itself!

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Recently I had purchased a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do portraits or landscape photographs more easily which worked a treat.  I also purchased a BH-40 Ballhead for my tripod and once more, it made taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic.  I developed a small selection of photographs During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find here above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

INTRODUCTION

Our time at Port FairyGriffiths Island, Victoria – Australia was spent walking around Griffiths Island which is part of the Port Fairy Coastal Reserve. We experienced: picturesque beach scenes; sighted the Port Fairy Lighthouse and wide ocean views; natural vegetation where we spotted playful small wallabies; coastal water birds; and lots of fresh air!  This photography adventure was an add-on to our visit to Warrnambool during our attendance at the 64th Convention & Inter-Club Photographic Exhibition 2018.  We should have spent more time at this historic fishing port, but our need to get back home and rest up, after a long weekend away was needed!  Maybe one day we will be back…

During this seascape photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens. For all of these photographs I used the camera mounted on a tripod with a remote timer.  I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and to help gain GPS location readings.
