INTRODUCTION

During this photography adventure hubby and I revisited a rural location called Nulla Vale, Victoria – Australia.  During a previous visit, I had spotted this composition just off the side of the Lancefield-Pylong Road.  Atop of a huge granite boulder, a tree grows somehow!  Its long dangling trunk and roots caressing the boulder and finding its way to mother earth.  We stayed for a short time here before heading back home.  My main objective was to just photograph this composition.  On my return home and during the process of developing the photographs, I decided to see how it would look like as a black and white photograph.  For me, the monochrome image tells a more dramatic story and can be seen below.

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this photography adventure – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens. Recently I had purchased a Right Angle L Plate Bracket for my camera so that I could turn it to do portraits or landscape photographs more easily which worked a treat.  I also purchased a BH-40 Ballhead for my tripod and once more, it made taking my photographs not just easier but much more enjoyable. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic.  I developed a small selection of photographs During the process of developing then I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find here above, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

CONCLUSION

Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!

INTRODUCTION

During this photography adventure hubby and I travelled to a rural location called High Camp, Victoria – Australia for the third time within the last couple of weeks!  It is just an hour from where we live and I wanted to capture photographs of another sunset within this region.  It was a hot afternoon and the early evening remained just as hot!  But an evening breeze helped cool us down as we spent an hour or so, just watching the day come to an end.  The looming clouds across the sky helped to create some dramatic sights.  I manage to find a spot that had a run of huge granite boulders along a ridge where the sun set just behind them.  Blackbirds drifted into view as I was taking some of the shots and the above photograph ended up being my favourite taken during this particular photography adventure.  Just simply beautiful…

During this photography adventure hubby and I travelled to a rural location called High Camp, Victoria – Australia for the second time within the last couple of weeks!  It is just an hour from where we live and I wanted to capture photographs of the sunset within this region.  Beautiful warm summer night and a glorious sunset had us meandering at High Camp for some time, just enjoying the evening light and the great outdoors.  So worth the effort of driving there late in the day. A good to be alive feeling for sure…

INTRODUCTION

A photography adventure to Bayindeen, Victoria – Australia had us discovering the ‘Mount Lang Ghiran Vineyard‘.  A beautiful vineyard located between two State Park mountain ranges – Langi Ghiran and Mount Buangor.  It was too late in the morning to get the best light and these photographs were taken at a time of the day when the light was harsh.  But I didn’t want to come away without taking photographs of this region as we were not sure if we could come back another time. We had a lovely drive back home and once again appreciated being able to visit such scenic landscapes…

INTRODUCTION

During this photography adventure hubby and I travelled to a rural location called High Camp, Victoria – Australia. It’s just an hour from where we live.  Here we discovered a landscape featuring large granite boulders scattered across stretches of summer golden grasslands. We managed to arrive on-scene a good hour before sunrise (the blue hour) where I was able to find the best place to photograph a sunrise (photograph featured above).  The lighting was just so beautiful.  Keeping us cool during this summer early morning adventure was a soft breeze that floated across the long golden coloured grass fields. We stayed here for some time, just enjoying the moments as the sun rose up and over the distant mountain ranges.  Then we drove around the local region scouting for possible future photographic opportunities.  This is an area that we will definitely return to – such a scenic, quiet and beautiful Australian summer gem of a location.

NB:  Below is a photograph I have taken at a different time of the year – winter 2020.  It just helps to show how different the landscape looks from one season to another.  The above images were taken during summer where the grass is dry and golden under the hot summer sun.  During winter, rains green up the pastures, rejuvenating the whole scene.

INTRODUCTION

During a photography adventure back in November 2019, we spent some time within the Grampians National Park region, Victoria – Australia.  The weather was mostly overcast and dull but I persevered in trying to make the best of our time by concentrating on photographing misty, moody scenes.  It’s a beautiful Australia bush region, rugged mountain ranges feature strongly but challenging to photograph at times.  Some walking involved and can be across difficult terrain especially for a couple of oldies like my hubby and me! So much to see and we will need to return at another time perhaps when the weather is sunny and warm…

INTRODUCTION

I am not sure you could call this car trip a photography adventure!  The day was grey and overcast and I just couldn’t get inspired to truely look around me for photographic opportunities as we drove through Saint Andrews, Victoria – Australia.  Until we drove along Buttermans Track!  Here we discovered local vineyards stretching across hillsides and offering up a lush green feast for the eyes.  The sun was determined not to show its face and grey skies darken the overall scene.  It will have to be a location that hubby and I return to on a better day I feel.  So it meant we headed back home and on our way, a stop for coffee.  The grumpy me will stay home next time and only bring the inspired photographer me!

INTRODUCTION

During this photography adventurewe decided to visit the Langi Ghiran State Park, Warrak, Victoria – Australia.  Here we discovered a beautiful secluded reservoir named Langi Ghiran where I was able to photograph wonderful reflections of Australian native gum trees in the nearly still waters.  Access to this region required us to travel along dirt tracks where we had to drive carefully in order not to damage our little car as it is not a 4 wheel drive!  The Easter Creek Track leads us through a small valley of trees standing amoungst lush green ferns, very picturesque.  A short walk up the track had us finding the region’s local lookout where vast panoramic views revealed farming plains and distant mountain ranges. But sadly the view from the lookout was mostly obscured by large tree branches.  The weather was mild, with clear blue skies above us and with the sun shining brightly made for an enjoyable photography adventure

INTRODUCTION

On our way back home from Warrnambool to Melbourne – Australia after spending a number of photography adventure days photographing around the region, we stopped to take some photographs at Mepunga – Bay of Islands Coastal Park.  Here we had the opportunity to view beautiful coastal cliffs and rock formations.  Lush green coastal vegetation, yellow and orange sands, deep blue sea and blue skies with storm clouds drifting across created an ideal location for a keen photographer such as me.  Although my tiredness from our 3 days of travel did dampen my enthusiasm on this occasion.  Will need to return hopefully one day to actually take the walk along the beach itself!

INTRODUCTION

During our photography adventure journey between Melbourne and Warrnambool – Australia, we decided to get up early one morning and head towards Penshurst which has within its region, a lookout positioned atop of Mount Rouse.  Here we found magnificent 360-degree views stretching across vast farming fields.  While the early morning was cold, rainy and cloudy we experienced a beautiful sunrise.  We were the only ones there at that particular time of the day and it was spiritually uplifting watching a new day being born and hearing all the native bird wildlife chirping away as the sun rose. On our way back down from the top of Mount Rouse, we encountered numerous mobs of Kangaroos hopping on and alongside the road. We found it most enjoyable to watch them as they bounded off into the surrounding native bush.  Another photography adventure achieved and leaving us feeling good about the world around us…
