“Photography: Painting and Drawing with Light”
INTRODUCTION
Part of Hubby’s and my photography adventure to the King Valley Balloon Festival last weekend involved an amazing visual sensation which featured a ‘Night Glow Light Show‘. At 7pm, located at the Brown Brothers Airfield, hot-air balloons put on a colourful light show that was backed dropped against a starry night sky. This spectacular event was witnessed by some 3,000 people! I have to confess, it posed a huge photographic challenge, well for me at least. We very much enjoyed both the morning King Valley Mass Balloon Ascension and this Night Glow Show. Will definitely try to come back in 2019!
PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED
During this miscellaneous photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens. For all these photographs I used the camera mounted on a tripod. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings. Taking these photographs with a night sky, bright lighting caused by the flames and having people moving about the balloons continuously – did posed a big challenge for me!
THE PHOTOGRAPHS
On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing them I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure. Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!
CONCLUSION
Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and man-made wonders, really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!
