“Photography:  Painting and Drawing with Light”

A lovely spring-day drive in the countryside around the region of Nulla Vale, Victoria – Australia.  Tall Black Wattle trees featuring small yellow pom-pom like flowers adorned the green rolling hillsides.  Mounds of huge granite boulders lay scattered about forming natural landscape sculptures – their presence demanding our attention!  Other views revealed lush green pastures where sheep and cattle stood contentedly grazing away their day.  Towards the end of our drive, we took the road that travelled alongside of Langley Nature Conservation Reserve.  One side of the road we sighted bush vegetation as it must have been before farmers developed this region.  On the other side of the road, we experienced beautiful views stretching across green pastures, dotted with sheep and cattle with far distance mountains and cloudy skies completing the picture!  As we drove deeper into the reserve, we came across a small pocket of green pasture which revealed a mob of Kangaroos busily grazing. They seemed mostly un-bothered by our presence which suggested they don’t see people here very often within this part of the reserve.  Photography adventure complete we drove back home. Once again, our time with nature left us feeling refreshed and ready to embark on life’s daily challenges.  We can’t wait until the next photography adventure

During this landscape photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens. For these photographs I used the camera on the tripod with a remote control. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.  I developed a small selection of photographs During the process of developing them I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world really does rejuvenate the body and soul.  Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!
