“Photography:  Painting and Drawing with Light”

INTRODUCTION

Spending time with my daughter taking photographs of our local Wallan region – is such a joy.  She enjoys taking photographs of birds and other forms of wildlife, while I enjoy taking photographs of the landscape.  On this particular day on our way home from our latest photography adventure, my daughter spotted a tree laden with Crested Pigeons.  It was late afternoon on a very cool winter’s day, and the sun was on the left hand side of us.  The lighting was perfect, soft and mystical as it sweep across the open fields; with the clouds gently laying down shadows, thus adding more interest to the scene.  It truly looked like a painting, just so beautiful.  As we got out of the car to take our photographs, the Crested Pigeons took flight.  I was able to capture this shot (featured above) where their bodies were bathed in sunlight which helped highlight their escape!  For me, this is a magical photo, and one that will remind me of my time with my daughter doing what we both love to do…

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this landscape photography  exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lense. For some of the shots, I used the camera hand-held, and for others, I used the camera mounted on a tripod with a remote timer.  Each photography adventure helps me learn more about my camera and lense; and also hopefully helps me becoming a better photographer. I also used my Samsung Galaxy S6 mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.  NB:  The rest of the photographs I took on the this day will be featured in a blog to follow soon.

CONCLUSION

Being out and about experiencing the natural wonders of the world really does rejuvenate the body and soul.  Photography is just another way I can improve my sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!  It definitely works for me and once more we finished up our day in high spirits.  NB:  Please click here to visit my ‘Photography – About’ page where you will be able to find blog links and photographs about other photographic adventures…

Happy photography all!
