“Photography: Painting and Drawing with Light”
INTRODUCTION
The Craigieburn Camera Club organised an outing to this event to give club members an opportunity to photograph an array of vehicles at Craigieburn Central, Victoria – Australia. Jess – the model came dressed in her best Rockabilly gear to pose for the club with the cars, bikes and trucks. It was a challenge for me as I had not photographed at such an event before. Trying to navigate around moving people and vehicles, posed some difficulty at times. The day was very overcast which also presented another thing to consider! But I was rewarded for my photography efforts I feel…
PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED
During this miscellaneous photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens. For all of the shots, I hand-held my camera. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and to gain GPS location readings.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS
On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing the photographs, I decided to ensure that the vehicles where the centre of attention within each photograph by darkening the background. Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!
CONCLUSION
Being out-and-about with my hubby, and the Craigieburn Camera Club gives me a chance to gain more experience photographing at different locations that I perhaps wouldn’t have considered beforehand. It helps broaden my photography skills and gives me an opportunity to enjoy the company of like-minded people. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!
