“Photography:  Painting and Drawing with Light”

 

 

 

 

INTRODUCTION

During our car drive back home after visiting my hubby’s brother’s place in Bruthen, Victoria – Australia, we decided to take the long drive back to Melbourne via Tarra Valley Road – Tarra Valley, Victoria – Australia.  It was so worth the effort!  We encounter some of the most beautiful, stunning and breathtaking farming countryside and rainforest region. At one end of the Tarra Valley road, we viewed farming pastures with cattle grazing quietly around golden hay barrels that lay randomly across lush green grass fields.  Tree covered hills rested in the background, while blues skies carried white fluffy clouds.  It was such a peaceful, beautiful location with little-to-no-traffic venturing along this road which made it even more special as we stood – gazing and appreciating the stunning countryside.  Further along this road that partially hugs the highly meandering Tarra River, we discovered a part of the Tarra Valley Rainforest region which forms a section of the Tarra Bulga National Park. Here we experienced a completely difference natural environment.  Varying massively tall trees sheltered gullies of diverse understory lush green ferns.  When we stopped, stepped out of the car to take in the beauty of this region, we were completely dwarfed by the sheer height of the trees.  There was such an air of seclusion and solitude – it was truly breathtakingly beautiful, one of the most impressive environments we have visited over the years during our photography adventures within Victoria, Australia. We were so glad we took the long way back home!

 

 

 

 

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens and my new (bird) lens, a Sigma150-600mm F5-6.3 DGOS HSM with a Sigma Mount Converter MC-11. I handheld the camera or mounted it on a Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with quick release base. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

 

 

 

 

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.  I developed a small selection of photographs.  During the process of developing them I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!

 

 

 

 

CONCLUSION

Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul.  Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!
