“Photography: Painting and Drawing with Light”
INTRODUCTION
This photography adventure became a family affair with my daughter, granddaughter and hubby visiting the Werribee River, Werribee South, Victoria – Australia. We stopped at K Road where local bird photographs had been photographing a rare sighting of an Eastern Osprey. Fortunately, we were able to photograph her as well! The Eastern Osprey was perched on a tree limb while she pecked away at a fish she had just caught that morning from the Werribee River below her tree location. It took two visits to this location to sight enough birds to feel I had enough to blog about. I managed to photograph a Little Pied Cormorant, Pacific Black Ducks, Australian White Ibis, Crested Pigeon, White Faced Heron, Royal Spoonbill, Common Starling, and a pair of Red-rumped Parrots. We enjoyed both visits to this location and value the fact this natural resource is just an hour from home!
PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED
During this photography exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens, and a Sigma150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM with a Sigma Mount Converter MC-11. For some of these photographs I used the camera hand-held but for most of the shots, I used a Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with quick release base. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS
On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom Classic CC. I developed a small selection of photographs. During the process of developing them, I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure. Please find both above and below, the best of what I took during this photography adventure!
CONCLUSION
Being out-and-about experiencing the natural wonders of the world and the creatures it inhabits – really does rejuvenate the body and soul. Photography is just another way to improve one’s sense of wellbeing and at the same time – be creative!

I especially like the group shots in this selection. And the setting looks so peaceful with the water.
