INTRODUCTION

During October, on a day when the weather was just perfect, meaning the sun revealed itself most of the day, and shed a soft warmth down upon the Grand Ridge Road, Seaview Region, Victoria – Australia, we took a drive!  We only had a small window of time to explore this beautiful area. Our drive commenced at the Warragul end of Grand Ridge Road only, where we were able to view and photograph sweeping green fields featuring local dairy farms and observe farmers’ cattle and sheep quietly grazing.  It is the best time of the year to visit this area, it is stunningly green!  As summer approaches, when temperatures can reach into the high 30’s – low 40’s, the landscape turns brown and golden-yellow.  It is then – dry and hot but not on this day, this day was just beautiful…

PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT USED

During this landscape photography  exercise – I used a compact system camera, a Sony A7 Mark II – Full Frame with a Sony A FE24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lense. For some of the shots, I used the camera hand-held, and for others, I used the camera mounted on a tripod with a remote timer.  Each photography adventure helps me learn more about my camera and lense; and hopefully helps me becoming a better photographer. I also used my Apple iPhone 8 Plus mobile phone for quick spontaneous photographs and gain GPS location readings.

MY PICK OF THE DAY PHOTOGRAPH

There are a number of photographs I took on the day that are my favourite but I have picked this one as a standout.  I tried to remember the rules of composition thus having the tree stump in the foreground to the left, the trees set in the middle ground and in the distance, a range of mountains with the blue sky hanging over the whole scene.

CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY APPROACH

In future, I will be selecting some photos from each photography adventure and be a little more creative during the development within Adobe Lightroom 6.  Here is my first creative attempt!

THE PHOTOGRAPHS

On my return home, I downloaded all the photographs into Adobe Lightroom 6.  I developed a small selection of photographs During the process of developing them I was able to see what I needed to address during my next photographic adventure.   Please find both above and below the best of what I took during this travel and photography adventure!

  1. Your photos are beautiful. I can see that you and your hubby must have had a very enjoyable time taking in the lush landscape and absorbing the surrounding countryside. Thanks for sharing.

    • Thank you Claudia…appreciate you comments – like knowing what others think of the photography composition. Try to improve with each attempt. And yes – I was surprised at just how green the area was too! But it will not last long with summer for us just around the corner, the Australia sun and heat can be brutal…cheers Karen
